Digital x-rays are an important part of preventative dental care because they allow us to see things that are not visible on the surface.
With digital x-rays, we can diagnose dental issues and treat them before they become major problems.
What Digital X-Rays are Able to Detect
- Abscesses or Cysts
- Bone Loss
- Tumors (cancerous and noncancerous)
- Developmental Abnormalities in Children
- Poor Tooth and Root positions
- Dental Decay
- Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Digital Dental X-Ray Process
Taking digital x-rays is similar to traditional film x-rays. The difference being a sensor is used rather than film to capture images of your teeth. The digital sensor is connected to a computer, so when the x-ray is taken, the image is immediately available for us to view.
Panoramic x-rays are similar but will capture an image of the entire mouth instead of specific areas. Digital x-rays are painless and take just a few minutes.
Cone Beam 3D Imaging
When regular x-rays just aren’t enough, cone beam imaging allows us to create detailed, 3D images of tooth placement, dental structures, fractures, TMJ issues, and much more. Cone beam imaging is one of the most precise methods of digital x-rays. All digital x-rays use much less radiation than traditional x-ray films.
